In 2022, the Tukura Foundation initiated a significant endeavor by establishing a Common Facility Center (CFC) in Pahukata Village, situated in the Bajiagaon Development Block within Nagaon.

This center is now on the brink of becoming operational and is strategically designed to serve as a vital hub for skill development programs and to provide essential support to local communities.

The primary goals of the Tukura Foundation through these CFCs are as follows:

1. Promotion of Sustainable Indigenous Resources: We are committed to promoting the use of sustainable indigenous resources such as bamboo, cane, sitalpati, jute, water hyacinth, areca-nut leaf, fabric, and more. These resources serve as the building blocks for developing a sustainable living culture.

 

2. Generating Sustainable Livelihoods: Our focus is on generating sustainable livelihoods through skill development training. This includes training the rural community in advanced skills related to water hyacinth basketry, hard shells, and providing training in Design Development and Product Development. These efforts are aimed at preserving and promoting the handicraft industries.

 

3. Promoting Waste Management and Sustainable Agriculture: We advocate for effective waste management practices and sustainable agriculture. One of our key initiatives is to provide training on organic compost production, particularly vermicompost, offering an alternative income source within agriculture to encourage sustainable farming.

4. Tree Planting Activity: As part of our commitment to environmental conservation, we actively engage in tree planting activities. This is not only an awareness-raising initiative but also an expression of our deep concern for the environment and our dedicated efforts to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change.

5. Promotion of Sustainable Development Through Art and Culture: We organize festivals and awareness programs that leverage art and culture to promote sustainable development. These events serve as platforms for fostering a deeper understanding of sustainability among communities.
